I was WRONG about my turtle's shell rot. Turns out she's got a fungal infection, here's how-
Things needed to help a Red-eared Slider with a fungal infection.
-5 Gallon container. Ultra strong.
-Non-Iodized sea salt
-5 gallons of lukewarm water (75-78F)
-Povidone iodine
-Measuring cup
-heat lamp
Instructions-
Get your Non-Iodized sea salt and add 1/4 of a cup to your Measuring cup. Then, apply the salt to the container before adding the 5 gallons of Lukewarm water. Stir for 30 seconds until all the salt has dissolved. Once all the salt has dissolved, introduce your red-eared slider to the water for 40-60 minutes. I would recommend holding its head above the water if it's a younger turtle, just so it doesn't accidentally consume any. I would advise holding its head above the water anyway. Once done soaking, apply povidone iodine to the infected spots, then place your turtle above a heat lamp. IMPORTANT! Do not place your turtle above its tank's heat lamp because it may jump into the water, exposing it to povidone iodine.
Repeat at least once a day for 1-2 weeks.
