Описание: Ida Labudović shared with us the difficult and deeply moving story of her grandmother Sofija Demajo, who survived the Second World War. She explained how, during the occupation, her grandmother and grandfather lived in constant fear that the Nazis might come to take them from their home in Belgrade. Because her grandfather worked in a pharmacy, he was able to obtain poison, and the two of them made a desperate pact: if the Nazis came for them, they would first spare their children from suffering and then take their own lives, determined not to fall into Nazi hands. Ida also shared that she remembers her grandmother with great love and warmth, as the two of them were extremely close. Her testimony reminded us of the unimaginable terror families faced and the strength it took to endure those times.
