Happy Halloween!!! 💀👻🎃 Man, this month just flew by. It’ll be 2026 before you know it…
Today I have to show a very underrated item from Blue Ridge, a company that made almost no other Halloween items that I’m aware of. I don’t know what year it’s from, but “Monster Mash Book” is the official name on the front of the box 😂. This is one of the coolest things I picked up at that yard sale I went to on August 30th, and one of the only things from there that I’m planning to keep. Like everything else I got at that house, this book was in rough shape. There was live white mold growing inside both the front and back flaps of the book, which miraculously cleaned off without causing any damage to the printing itself. The only other issue it had was a rusted battery compartment… but it was probably the worst rust I’ve ever dealt with in a battery compartment. I couldn’t even scrape the old contacts out, they were stuck so bad I actually used a dremel to sand them down to the plastic lol. It was bad. But after replacing those, it was good to go.
I found a picture of one of these with a $30 price tag on the box. That’s crazy to me. Considering the quality and detail put into this piece, I would’ve guessed it retailed between $60-$80. This is a Blue Ridge item after all, of course it’s going to be top notch. It’s hard to tell on camera, but the image of the house inside the book is printed on multiple plastic panels of varying depths to make it look 3D, and the actual printing is textured around all the little details as well. And look at the care and attention put into the little plastic characters! They are SO small in person, yet the spider has hair on its back, the bat has fingers, and the dancing skeleton at the bottom has individual teeth. I also love how the pumpkin is based off the illustration on the front of the book, or the other way around. As if there wasn’t enough to look at inside the book already, they even printed the full lyrics to “Monster Mash” on the back of the front cover. Of course, that’s one of the most overused songs when it comes to anything Halloween, but this is the full, original recording and I think it’s great. The motor even stops running during the beat pauses in the song, and each of the lights are programmed individually too. I truthfully can’t think of many ways that this item could be improved, and I don’t think I even have to explain myself when I say that. It was an easy choice for me to end the Halloween season with this. This is simply a rare case of a perfect item in my book. Pun intended.
Thanks for checking out the video! Hope you enjoyed! Let me know what you think in the comments! With Halloween videos coming to an end, I plan to take most of November off to prepare for… Christmas already? What??? I hope to see you then!
