Janice Edwards' "Bay Area Vista" is on location at the Oral Lee Brown Foundation Gala celebrating 28 years of Ms. Brown's funding college for students. Janice is pictured with actor, songwriter and author Christian Keyes, who gave the keynote address.
In 1987, Oral Lee Brown adopted a first grade class at Oakland's Brookfield Elementary School and promised them if they stayed in school and got admitted to college, she would pay for their college education. Not only did she keep her promise to the first class of students, to date, 136 students from low income families have received mentoring, tutoring, and financial support from the Oral Lee Brown Foundation for college.
Actor and Author Christian Keyes, stars in the Bounce TV prime time soap opera, Saints & Sinners. Keyes has appeared in several films and made-for-television movies, include leading roles in Perfect Combination (2010), Lord, All Men Can't Be Dogs (2011) alongside Vivica A. Fox, Note to Self(2012), Act Like You Love Me (2013) and The Man in 3B (2015). He also appear in a Tyler Perry's stage plays including "Madea Goes To Jail" and "What's Done in the Dark". He is the author of Ladies Night and Dr. Feelgood.
Award recipients included Assembly Member Rob Bonta, Sgt. Mike Gantt, Attorney Robert Harris, Douglas Mutchler, Dr. Melanie Spears, and Father Jay Matthews.
