OK guys, we think we may have found it: the hardest hike in Yosemite National Park - Half Dome to Cloud's Rest in a single day! We've been dying to do this route but have been patiently waiting for Half Dome permit season to end. The week the Half Dome cables went down, it was finally our time to go up.The hike starts on the Yosemite Valley floor and climbs 5,000FT to the summit of Half Dome (no permits are required in the off season when the cables are down). From there, we descended Half Dome and returned to the John Muir trail, where we climbed another 3000FT all the way up to Cloud's Rest with all its glorious views into the Yosemite valley below. Round trip on the hike was nearly 26 miles and over 8000FT of climbing - one killer day but WOW SO WORTH IT.
