This pop-up performance, featuring dancers from Delfos Danza Contemporanea amidst the new installation by artist Sam Vernon, was recorded on Saturday, April 11, at Seattle Art Museum's Olympic Sculpture Park.
Delfos Danza Contemporanea is Mexico’s premier contemporary dance company. Winner of numerous awards, including Mexico’s prestigious National Dance Award, Delfos is a unique collective of artists known for its introspective, near-mystical approach to dancemaking. The company’s creative vision is characterized by fluid physicality and poetic narratives within a diverse repertory.
This pop-up performance was held in conjunction with the Seattle debut of Delfos' "Cuando los Disfraces se Cuelgan (When the Disguises are Hung Up)", April 9-11, at Meany Studio Theatre. The work integrates dance, video, computer animation and music to explore identity and the unveiling of our interior world.
Vernon's installation was chosen to align the Olympic Sculpture Park with Disguise: Masks and Global African Art, to be presented at the Seattle Art Museum in the summer of 2015.
