A Chapter - piano improv in C - optimistic cinematic storytelling music

Описание: When you're writing a book, the first thing you actually write is a chapter. Do you write the first chapter or the last? Of course, if you're actually writing a book, you probably start by planning the story telling, lining up plot points, researching the locations and how they fit in the timeline and all of those other important things that aren't as romantic as actually writing the story, things that don't make good reading. But I digress.

For me the key of C is often tied with the innocence of starting to learn the piano. You don't have to move your fingers from the straight line of the closer keys on the board and there are whole song books written without having to move your fingers from the home position.

So, if the key of C is innocence, and maybe hope, is this the first chapter, one where the Hobbits might be planning their adventures around their second breakfast. Or, is it the final chapter, where bits of dissonance have hinted at sadness, sorrow or just tension, like the mouse returning home with a nut, telling of the run in with the Gruffalo?

As a person's music studies advance, the key of C brings to mind advanced thinking and shows itself to be the hardest key to play in as it has no reference notes in the upper level of the keyboard. In a fourth year performance exam, a professor asked me to play scales in C, thinking he was throwing me an easy one, but I flubbed it. The professor beside asked me to play in C# minor and the same scales were played without error.

As one year ends and another begins, do we focus on the ending of things that have happened or the things we suspect are to come? How does the story play out?
