🙏 Spiritual Significance:
Dungeshwari Hills are believed to be the place where Siddhartha Gautama (Buddha) practiced extreme asceticism for years before realizing the “Middle Path.”
The caves here — known as the Mahakala Caves — contain Buddha statues, including a striking image of the emaciated Buddha representing his penance.
You’ll also find a temple dedicated to Goddess Dungeshwari, worshipped by locals for centuries.
✍️ My Personal Highlights:
The breathtaking hilltop view of Gaya
The calm silence inside the caves
The challenging yet peaceful trek through the rocky trail
The feeling of walking where Buddha once meditated
