France - Annual gay pride march in Paris

Around 100,000 people took part in the annual European Gay Pride march in Paris on Saturday (20/6), with organisers blaming the World Cup for the lower than usual turnout. Marchers from some 60 organisations filed across the French capital, setting aside some of the traditional fun in favour of demanding better rights for homosexuals. The march comes amid much debate in France on whether to give gay couples the same legal status as heterosexuals.
