The Constellation program promised to return humans to the moon in 2020, establish a lunar base five years later, and send the first humans to Mars five years after that.
The program was started in 2004 and cancelled in 2010.
The Orion spacecraft would be used to replace the space shuttle, carrying four astronauts to the ISS, as this was the main objective of the program.
