Описание: Freezing of gait (FOG) is an abnormal gait pattern that can accompany Parkinson’s disease (PD) as well as other parkinsonian disorders in which there are sudden, short, and temporary episodes of an inability to move the feet forward despite the intention to walk. These episodes can significantly interfere with and affect daily life which can result in falls.

On the next episode of APDA’s series, Let’s Keep Moving with APDA, Innovative Technology for Freezing of Gait we cover the reasons why FOG occurs, and the different types of technology to prevent this from happening. Our presenter, Teresa Baker, PT, DPT, Physical Therapist, Boston University and APDA National Rehabilitation Resource Center for Parkinson’s Disease and special guest, Franchino Porciuncula, EdD, PT, DScPT, research scientist, College of Health & Rehabilitation Sciences: Sargent College, Boston University discuss some exciting new research that is giving people with PD who experience FOG some new hope.

Dr. Porciuncula will share some of the latest research related to technology and FOG. Preventing freezing of gait by using innovative technology can contribute to improved mobility, reduction of falls, and improvement in quality of life.
