St Kilda's botanical gardens were opened in 1861 and are lined with palm trees as well as housing an ornamental pond and conservatory. The area is located just several kilometers south east of the Melbourne CBD and is known as a thriving beach side inner city community. This was a morning walk through the area and into the adjacent suburb of Elwood which is full of classic Art Deco architecture and leafy streets.
