Non binary visibility activism: Do you know a trans person?

Описание: The importance of trans and non binary / gender non-conforming visibility cannot be understated at this point in history. Non binary visibility activism is the fight that brings itself to MY door step, and I will be here planting my little apple tree even as everything feels doomed.

In the year I was born, 1992, only 47% of Americans reporting knowing a queer person, and that number skyrocketed to 87% by the year 2015. That upward trend in visibility coincided with increased public support for marriage equality, which was ruled on by the supreme court in 2015.

Transgender and gender non binary people need public support as a wave of anti-trans hate and legislation threatens to wash us out completely. It starts with Americans being able to say they KNOW a trans person.

In 2022, fewer than one in three Americans surveyed reported that they knew at least one trans person. We need this scale to continue to tip in our favor until a majority of Americans can confidently report they know a trans person!
