The Belvoir Bees is one of the most successful programs delivered by the Belvoir Castle Cricket Trust. We give children from 6-11 years old the opportunity to play sport and learn skills on a regular basis
We encourage involvement of adult volunteers in sports activities
and involve all members of the family in the activities through social interaction in a rural community
The Trust aims to offer “Belvoir Bees” sessions at a number of rural sports/cricket venues. The Bees provide a taster not only for children to participate in sport and learn skills – but also provides a focussed way for local families to meet and generally develop their community.
This project is cricket based – but encourages participation at all levels of skill. It is NOT a cricket club – and there are no team selections. It promotes inclusion – and regular 90 minutes activity on a weekly basis through the summer months.
From 2014 we intend to build on the success of the initial Belvoir Bees project. We aim to deliver the Belvoir Bees sessions in new venues while introducing over 350 more children from rural areas to cricket. We will get these children, between the ages of 6-11, active in sport for 90 minutes for 20 weeks during the summer.

We plan to recruit and give basic, supplementary training to volunteers for delivery of these projects. We will have 60-70 recruits actively giving more than 15 hours coaching assistance each summer.

Our focus is to have all members of the family seeing sport as a centre of their social activities in a rural environment.
