Step by Step Guide

I’m logged into Google and in my Gmail inbox.

When you add an extension to Gmail, to add a new feature or extend an existing one, you are actually adding it to the Chrome web browser that you are using to view Gmail.

To remove a Chrome extension, I need to move my mouse to the very top of the browser.
On the right hand side, you’ll see there are a number of icons shown here, but the one I am interested in is the small jigsaw piece.
You’ll see if I move my mouse over it, this is called Extensions.
Lets click on that once to open it.

A list of all the extensions that have been added to Chrome is shown.

If you want to quickly remove a specific Chrome extension, all you need to do is click on the 3 dots icons on the right of that extension.
Doing that shows a number of options, but the only one of interest is Remove from Chrome
Lets click on that
A small box pops up that asks you to confirm you want to remove the extension. Click on the large blue remove button to do that.

And if I click back into the extensions list, you see that it has been removed.

If you want to remove more than one extension, I’d recommend you move to the bottom of this list and click on the Manage Extensions link

This opens a page showing all of the extensions that have been installed.

You can choose to pause the use of an extension by clicking on the small button in the bottom right of the extension card. This will turn off the extension but it will remain installed on your browser.

If you want to uninstall an extension completely, simply click on the Remove button and as before you are asked to confirm that you want to uninstall the extension.

Clicking on the large blue remove button will remove the extension completely.
