Nature Activity - Tripod Fairy House

Using all natural materials we made a tripod fairy house to bring some magic to our garden.

Making this type of fairy house helps us begin to understand the skills that are needed for making full sized shelters when we visit the forest.

Making a free standing tripod Fairy House is an excellent introduction activity for making shelters in the woodland. Younger children who build this structure will be much more familiar with these concepts and how the materials are used when they are a little older and building shelters in the woods.

Whilst using this nature activity to inspire learning, know you are helping you and your family's wellbeing like this:

1) Get Active - take a walk somewhere in order to collect your sticks, pebbles, shells, wood and any other resources that you would like to use to create your tripod fairy house.
2) Keep Learning - learning how to build a tripod shelter in miniature will enable better understanding when aiming to build a tepee style den either in your garden or in the woods on a larger scale.
3) Be Mindful - When collecting your resources only to take what you need for this activity. Many other insects and wildlife thrive from those things too. Take a moment at each resource to see what other insect or animal benefits from what you will take.
4) Practice Kindness - why not make one for a place out in your local community. They aren't long lasting and should naturally degrade but perhaps other children will love to see your creations - keep belief in the fairy kingdoms alive.
5) Think Community - Share your creations with the community here and on other platforms, give tips and respond with kindness.
