You make it all the way to the dungeons before you bump into the quiet potions master, sending your books tumbling everywhere. With a long-suffering sigh that almost hides his quiet curiosity, Snape offers to help you back to your chambers.

Much to his surprise, you invite him in for tea. As you both settle before the fire, polite conversation gives way to something quieter.

Snape is guarded, awkward, and clearly unused to being invited into a young woman's chambers. And yet, with every shared glance and carefully chosen word, the space between you begins to close.

Some magic, after all, has nothing to do with wands.
