HRC Announces Record Support from U.S. Businesses for the Equality Act

Описание: The Human Rights Campaign hosted a virtual briefing to announce the major U.S. corporations, including dozens of Fortune 500 companies, calling on the Senate to pass the Equality Act because they believe it is good for their employees and their businesses. HRC will announce the total number of companies and notable new additions to the Business Coalition for the Equality Act — setting a new record of support for the Equality Act from the business community.  

The business community’s support reflects the broad and overwhelming support nationwide for the Equality Act — historic federal legislation that would modernize and improve our nation’s civil rights laws by including explicit, permanent protections for LGBTQ people and women, and expanding protections for women, people of color, and people of all faiths.

New polling from Hart Research Associates found that 70 percent of Americans (including 50 percent of Republicans) support the Equality Act. Hundreds of members of Congress and more than 600 organizations, including the nation’s top leaders in civil rights, education, health care, and faith organizations have also endorsed the legislation.

Policy and Political Affairs at HRC consists of our Government Affairs department, the Legal Department, the Campaigns and Organizing Team, the Political Action Committee, and other programs. The Government Affairs department engages with Congress and the administration to advance pro-equality federal policy. The Legal Department is dedicated to legal policy change through the courts, legislatures, and administrative bodies at the international, federal, state, and local level. The Campaigns and Organizing team is based throughout the country and focused on building political organizing capacity within the LGBTQ+ movement. The Political Action Committee (PAC), which is governed by the Public Policy Committee (PPC), makes endorsements in federal, state, and local races and can coordinate electoral activities and contribute to those campaigns.
