In this film we visit the Land, Sea and Sky galleries and are immediately presented with a massive propellor blade from the Titanic’s sister ship Britannic. What a great sculpture it makes.
A lot of work goes into these videos. You can now buy me a pint as a means of appreciation for my work on Naked Ireland, no obligation, obviously - only if you can afford it... I appreciate it. Cheers.

Inside the gallery, under a monumental painting by Irish artist John Luke The Road to the West, is an exhibition of very early means of transport, including a quaint tinkers caravan.
Jumping forward then to the 20th Century, we see a really interesting car designed and built by local Engineer Davy Woods and motorcycle racer Artie Bell purely as a labour of love. It took 8 years to build and I think it’s pretty spectacular – it would give James Bond’s Asten Martin a run for its money. It was called the DAWB 6, a name crafted from the initials of its creators names.
Next we see a locally built John Crosslé Mk III Racing car. Followed by a group of motorbikes with local connections too, including a 'Bitza' built by George Brockerton and so called as it was made out of bits of this and bits of that! And beside it is a crazy little buggy called the McCandless Mule car, a prototype off-road 4 wheel drive vehicle. And how would you like to make that final journey in this 1924 Rolls Royce Hearse?
We then see a full scale model of a Delorean sports car. There’s an interesting exhibition here devoted to this machine made famous by Back to the Future. But I’ll save that for a future video devoted to Delorean.
We also see an old ambulance. These were a familiar site when I was young.
There's an exhibition of tractors here by world famous Harry Ferguson a man who’s name is synonymous with the tractor. But he’s perhaps not so well known as an aviator. We see a replica of a plane of his own design – The Ferguson Monoplane.
Staying in the field of aviation we look at a prototype the first vertical takeoff airplane built by Short Bros. of Belfast.
We end this video with what might look like a very humble bicycle, but the pnuematic tyres on this bike are by John Dunlop who consequently changed the face of motoring in the 20th Century.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this look at the innovative exhibits here at the Ulster transport Museum. See you again soon.
