The Institute for Government was delighted to welcome James Ball and Andrew Greenway, authors of the new book, Bluffocracy.
In the book, they argue that Britain is run by bluffers: men (it’s usually men) who know a little bit about everything, and an awful lot about nothing. This includes the civil service, which, the authors contend, has too many generalists and not enough specialists.
We hosted a lively discussion on the future of the civil service with the authors and Emma Norris, Programme Director at the Institute for Government.
The event was chaired by Gavin Freeguard, Programme Director and Head of Data and Transparency at the Institute for Government.
