After facing over 5.3 million cyber attacks in 2025, the government has moved toward stricter regulation of unsafe VPN apps that secretly collect user data, track locations, and send information to foreign servers. To create a safer digital environment, PTA has now introduced licensed VPN services under the CVAS-Data Regime.

With this new system, users will register their numbers with PTA and use only approved VPNs—ensuring secure browsing, business-grade privacy, and protection from hacking, data theft, and foreign interference. Many countries like India, UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Bangladesh already regulate unauthorized VPNs, and Pakistan is now strengthening its own digital security in the same direction.

Free and unregistered VPN apps create vulnerabilities. Licensed VPNs create protection. This shift marks an important step toward securing Pakistan’s digital future.
