Let's paddle Overlook Park at the south end of Longboat Key, FL!

Описание: If you're are a strong paddler or kayaker, I recommend Overlook Park, which is at the south end of Longboat Key, FL. Even on a good day, you will feel some current, but if you're a stronger paddler, it's worth it. I went at low tide with a pretty good amount of wind. The current WAS ripping through the channel under the bridge, and I could see some BIG waves (BIG for Siesta Key/Longboat Key area). Without the wind, it would be a much easier paddle.

Even with the low tide, I wasn't really getting stuck on sandbars. There was a really nice sandbar island with a lot of birds, which is great for bird watchers. I saw lots of open quahog shells, which I assume the birds had eaten, along with some huge conchs, which were alive and thriving.

There were also lots of jellies floating by. I tend to get jelly stings on my super soft baby skin ;), but these were little guys, and even with my legs dangling in the water, I never got stung. Super cute!

The seagrass was thriving—green and waving. I love to see that!

And if you're feeling adventurous, Quick Point Nature Preserve is right across the street. It has wooden walkways and observation areas on the water.

I recommend this padddle spot to intermediate paddlers who are looking to paddle in between the beach and the inland area. Check it out near lower tide on a calm day for the best experience!
