The Dell XPS 8940 is a pretty descent desktop with some minor upgrade limitations. It comes with only one slot for NVME M.2 SSD, making the possibility of an NVME upgrade marginal. Users are left with the option of replacing the pre-installed NVME or expanding the storage using a PCIe adopter, the later being what this video seeks to explain.
RAM upgrade also has somewhat been an issue on this desktop since Dell through their BIOS has narrowed upgrade possibilities to RAM with similar or same clock speed and latency. There are however some pretty affordable upgrade option like the ones below, compared to acquiring RAM directly from Dell.
