[PLANT GROWTH REGULATOR RESULTS] How to [FIX an UGLY LAWN] | Golf Course Lawn RENOVATION

Описание: It's been right at 2 weeks since Alex applied T-Nex plant growth regulator to his Bermuda grass lawn. The Tifway 419 Bermuda is growing in very nicely but it was time to reduce those mowing requirements using PGR. The last time the lawn was mowed was 6 days ago and as you can see, T-Nex is really slowing down top growth while producing a deep green. In this episode we also show the results of a recent Spectracide application. Finally Alex closes out by talking about the experience of transforming his lawn into golf course lawn.

Plant growth regulators can be used to increase or decrease the gibberellic acid sythesis in your Bermuda or Zoysia grass lawn. So by modifying this hormone through chemical application we can make grass grow faster or in our case make it grow slower. Our focus is on inhibiting the gibberellic acid hormone synthesis which is what plants (like turf grass) use for growth.

6 Classes of PGR (A- F) but for our purposes, we focus on the first 2 (A and B)

Class A PGRs inhibit gibberillic acid synthesis at the end of the pathway (i.e. the leaf) - Trinexapac-ethyl. Class A are absorbed foiliarly (i.e. through the leaf). No watering for 6 hours. T-Nex used as our Class A with trinexapac-ethyl as the active ingredient. Provides growth supression for 4 weeks (depending on rain and fertilization). 2 - 3 days to begin working. Can cause slight discoloration (yellowing) after application which goes away in few days after mowing.

Class B PGRs inhibit gibberillic acid synthesis earlier in the pathway (i.e. root uptake) - Paclobutrazol. Class B are absorbed through the roots. Work best when watered in within 24 hours. We use Tide Paclo 2Sc as our Class B with paclobutrazol as the active ingredient. Provide growth suppression for 6 - 8 weeks. Takes 7 - 10 days to begin working. Slower than class A but no other real negatives.

Plant growth regulators are an incredible lawn care chemical that slow the growth of turf grass by inhitbiting giberrilic synthesis. Definitely consider them for your Bermuda grass lawn or zoysia grass lawn.
