Born on 25th June 1975 in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh, Capt. Pandey always dreamed big. When applying to the National Defence Academy (NDA), he famously wrote, "I want to win the Param Vir Chakra." That wasn’t just a statement — it became his destiny.

🎖️ Why He Was Awarded the Param Vir Chakra:
On the night of 2/3 July 1999, during the assault on Khalubar Top in the Batalik sector, Capt. Pandey led his platoon under intense enemy fire. Wounded in the shoulder and leg, he refused to retreat. He single-handedly destroyed multiple enemy bunkers and shouted, “Na chhodna!” as he charged ahead. Even after being fatally wounded, he cleared the final bunker, ensuring victory.

He was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest wartime gallantry award, on 15th August 1999.
