A snug tight fastener is a key element in turn-of-nut. Match marks and their associated turns will not work as expected if the fastener has not been properly snugged first. Since the snug tight condition is an important variable that can affect turn-of-nut it’s covered extensively in our training. This video from our certification training and shows how improperly snugging a fastener can prevent proper tension from being achieved. The video has been edited and speed up for the purposes of this presentation but it shows the importance of proper testing and the value of measuring the results of a bolting solution.
