Charles Upham: A Hero of World War II

Описание: Charles Upham was a New Zealand soldier who served during World War II. He was the only combat soldier to be awarded the Victoria Cross and Bar, the highest award for gallantry in the British and Commonwealth forces. Upham was born in Christchurch, New Zealand in 1908. He joined the New Zealand Army in 1939 and served in the 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force. He saw action in Greece, Crete, North Africa and Italy. Upham was awarded the Victoria Cross for his actions during the Battle of Crete in 1941. He was also awarded the Bar to his Victoria Cross for his actions during the Battle of Ruweisat Ridge in 1942. Upham was a brave and courageous soldier who showed great leadership and bravery in the face of danger. He was an inspiration to his fellow soldiers and a true hero of World War II.
