Why is width the biggest factor of stability and why are some boards of the same width more stable than others?
What can we do to increase stability?
What do people mean when they talk about secondary stability?
To start with we need to consider 3 theoretical points on a board which interact together to affect stability. These are:
The centre of gravity
The centre of Buoyancy
The metacentre
The centre of gravity is where all of the mass of you and your board could be considered to act in a single point. It will act as a downward force at this point. Moving your body will move the centre of Gravity.
