The main event of 765's 2022 steam excursion season is finally here! We chase the famous 2-8-4 across the fields of three states from Edon, Ohio to Hillsdale, Michigan across the bulk of the Indiana Northeastern's network. This is also the first time that the 765 will lead the entire duration of the excursion on the INE.
The whole operation has proven to be quite the success, with more events planned for 2023 when 765 returns to the INE. Everyone has seemed to enjoy the 765's time on the railroad.
A surprise was the appearance of NC&StL 576's beautiful shop-built steamboat whistle for the trips on this day. This deep, melancholic whistle sounded absolutely fantastic out on the line and was a nice change of pace from 765's loud and shrill Nathan steam whistle.
