Does walking count as a bone density workout?

Walking has loads of benefits and you should absolutely be doing as much of it as you can. But it's not enough to build bone density, especially if you have osteopenia or osteoporosis.
The older we get, the more attention we need to pay to doing more exercises to build bone density. More than walking, or even running or jumping, that's going to look like things that add load to your body and require you to work harder against gravity.
Squats for example.
So go ahead and pick up the weights, or work with your body weight if you're just starting out. You'll reap the rewards not just in muscle strength and function but also in your bone density!
