Two classmates who graduated from Palisades High School in 1965 teamed up ten years later to write a book about 30 students who had been featured in a 1965 Time magazine cover story. The book proved to be a best seller and helped boost writing careers for Michael Medved and David Wallechinsky (son of author Irving Wallace). NBC picked up the concept for a weekly series that debuted in November of 1977, but it only ran for 14 episodes. The series featured good casts (Tony Bill was the only regular, serving to introduce each week's story), but the show basically used the book's title and little of its true-life drama. The theme song ('Class of '65') was written by Don Costa, David Fisher, and Terry Ray. It gets a sunny, upbeat rendition from the band 'Venice'.
