Carling's Black Label Beer is brewed in many countries around the world. Originally from Canada, Black Label was license brewed in the USA by Brewing Corporation of America soon after Prohibition's repeal. The company soon changed its name to Carling Brewing Company. The company grew rapidly beyond its original brewery in Cleveland, Ohio, amassing breweries in Natick, Massachusetts, Belleville, Illinois, Frankenmuth, Michigan, Tacoma, Washington, Atlanta, Georgia, Phoenix, Arizona and other cities by the 1970s.
Black Label is no longer the popular national brand it once was. In fact, it's pretty difficult to find anywhere these days, but it's still a decent standard American lager that pours clean and golden. A frothy head holds firm in a clean beer glass for a respectable period of time. The body is light and the flavor delicate and lively. Hops bitterness is low, but noticeable.
Now part of the Pabst Brewing Company's stable of brands, Black Label has a long and storied history that saw Carling merge with Baltimore's National Brewing Company and later sell out to G. Heileman Brewing Company, which itself was absorbed by Stroh and finally Pabst.
