Here are THREE videos about the shoulder! 2 educational videos in regards to joint pain and one video to improve your shoulder pain.
One video describes how to find your clavicle, AC joint, and the surrounding tissues. Another one shows you how the AC joint is commonly separated. The last video shows you how to properly scoop the shoulder blade to help relieve pressure off of the AC joint, impingement, or other shoulder/neck pain.

There are 3 grades of AC joint separations that are usually all caused by blunt-force trauma (falling on the side of your shoulder by doing badass things, getting slammed by a football player from the side, etc). The first two grades involve slight tearing of the ligaments that attach the collar bone to the shoulder blade. The last grade (grade 3) is a complete tearing of all the ligaments between the collar bone and the shoulder blade. Grade 3 is a very noticeable injury and you will see a large bump on the top of someones shoulder (this is the end of the collar bone sticking up). In many cases, the grade 3 injury is surgical.
Learning to properly set the shoulder blade into a scooped position will help to take pressure off of the AC joint or other inflamed structures in the shoulder (impingement, labral tears, etc). Applying this scoop to your life and your exercises will allow the shoulder to heal so that you can get back to kicking ass and taking names.
