Federal court blocks USDA order to undo California SNAP funds

Описание: California’s full November SNAP payments are safe for now after a federal judge paused a Trump administration order that would have forced states to reduce benefits. The USDA had directed states to issue only 65% of SNAP funds and to “undo” any full payments already made, warning of penalties. California Attorney General Rob Bonta challenged the order, calling it unfair and logistically impossible. Earlier rulings required the USDA to use contingency funds to continue full payments during the government shutdown, but the agency’s emergency appeal to the Supreme Court has left the program in legal limbo. About 5.5 million Californians rely on SNAP for food assistance.
