WALKS IN DORSET : THE TOLPUDDLE MARTYRS [4K]

Описание: This is another video in my series “ Walks in Dorset” accompanied by my Whippet (Logan). In this episode, I take a walk in and around the pretty village of Tolpuddle - located about 8 miles East of Dorchester. The village is probably best known for the story of The Tolpuddle Martyrs and so I decided to take a tour of the main street (looking for buildings connected to the story) before heading out into the countryside.

There is ample roadside parking in the village (giving consideration to residents). I started my 4.5 mile circular walk at the delightful village green before heading East along the main street and along the way I looked out for various buildings that were part of the history of “The Tolpuddle Martyrs” (I have provided some brief background information about the story at various stages in the video).

I then visited the church and the Tolpuddle Martyrs Museum before heading North out of the village, along a footpath that took me under the A35 and into some fields.

There were some stunning views across the Dorset countryside to enjoy as well as plenty of wildlife (including deer).

My route took me across the delightful Bere stream and then on to the iron age hill fort known as Weatherby Castle – which had a surprise at the top!

My homeward journey took me back to the village via a Roman road and again some quite gorgeous scenery.
