1. SOUNDBITE (English) Vanessa Diaz, associate professor of Chicano and Latino studies at Loyola Marymount University and co-author of “P FKN R: How Bad Bunny Became the Global Voice of Puerto Rican Resistance":
"It's really such a contrast to the messaging that we're getting about what America is, what it means to be American. The fact that there was an alternative halftime show called the All American Halftime Show insinuating that what we saw last night was not American. And, you know, Bad Bunny has not shied away from the fact that. He is not going to adjust to who he is to accommodate a mainstream audience. And instead, he's changing what it means to be mainstream. And so, these conversations are very much about, you know, the consistent, -- the, consistent, sort of presenting of Latinos as foreign others. And Bad Bunny turns this upside down and he says, no, God bless America and America is all of these Latin American and Caribbean nations and the US and Canada were all a part of it."
