Today we're going to review part number C56147. This is the CURT t-connector vehicle wiring harness with the 4-way trailer connector on it. Now This is a custom fit part number. This will fit the 2004 to 2011 Toyota Prius, all the models, and the 2012 to current Toyota Prius except the plug-in models for those years. I would recommend to go to our website and on the website we have a fit guide that if you put in your year and model Prius it would show you if this will work on your vehicle. It comes with everything shown here on the table. It does provide this 4-way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights.
It does connect quickly and easily. There's no cutting or splicing the wires. It's pretty much a plug-in. Basically you locate the connection points in your rear cargo area, plug in these t-connectors, and then just run this hot power wire to the car battery. It does include this taillight converter right here which will ensure that your vehicle's wiring will match that of your trailer.
This is a power module. That is why you would run this to the 12 volt positive side of your battery. The power module connections directly to the battery. It avoids overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Everything to supply the lights to your trailer would run through this system, not through your vehicle's system. This power module here is constructed using service mount technology, the SMT technology.
Gives you consistent, reliable performance. Maximizes your trailer light yield and the intensity while producing minimal heat. It does ensure superior operation in rough road conditions. Also comes with this dust cap that you can put on your 4-way flat connector to protect the terminals when you're not using it. A few specs on this harness. The maximum amperage in the stock turn light you can use is 3 amps per circuit.
The max in the taillight would be 6 amps per circuit. Basically when you'll go to the install this what you'll do is go to the rear of the Prius, open up the hatch, go to the passenger side. What you're going to want to do is, right where your battery's located and then where your taillights are you're going to remove all the covers that are on the floor and everything. Then you'll access the rear of the taillight. This t-connector, now the side with the green wire is for the passenger side so this will t into your taillight connectors. Then you'll have this white wire that you'll want to attach to a good clean ground like a screw that might be nearby. If there isn't we do supply the included grounding screw that you can drill a hole and get a good clean ground on. Then what you'll do is take this double-faced tape, attach it to the converter, attach that converter to a nice flat surface so it doesn't move around. Then you'll take this length of yellow wire that comes out of the converter, has a t-connector on it, this will run to the driver side. The yellow wire will be for the driver side. Same way, these t-connectors will plug into the taillight circuit. Then you'll have this power wire that has the in line fuse holder attached to it. It's not a long wire because on the Priuses the battery is located in that rear cargo area. What you want to do here is go ahead and attach this eyelt to the positive side post of your battery. Then what you'll do is open up the in line fuse holder, take the included 10 amp fuse and just go ahead and install that and then put your cover over it. Install the fuse and then put your cover over it. Then with it all attached you'll be ready to go. You have a length of wire here with the 4-way on it that when you're not using it you can just keep it in the cargo area. When you are using it you can extend it out. Then you enclose your hatch. The hatch we usually have a rubber seal on it so it won't cut into the wire. You can just run this out through the rear and close the hatch. I've mentioned it does come with the dust cap for the 4-way. Basically what you would do is that would just attach around the connector itself. Then the cap would just install right over. When you're not using it you can put the cap on it to protect it. Also it comes with some supply of zip ties that you can use to take up any excess wire that needs to be secured. Comes with a nice set of detailed instructions with some nice pictures to show you the location points. That should do it for the review on part number C56147, the CURT t-connector vehicle wiring harness with the 4-way flat trailer connector. .
