365 Day Full Body Home Workout
Hi guys,
I'm 55 years of age and I'm in the best shape of my life. I've lost weight, I'm fit and my health is good. And, I've achieved my fitness and weight loss goals through bodyweight workouts including the three big guns; squats, sit-ups and push-ups, eating less and better.
I prefer to stay active and as injury free as possible which is the main reason I prefer bodyweight training.
The other reason, is that you can do bodyweight exercises anywhere such as at home, in the gym or at the park. Squats, sit-ups and push-ups build total body strength, endurance, balance and mobility.
Thirty two days ago, I started my 365 day bodyweight workout (a very lengthy workout) to complete 100 squats, 100 push-ups and 100 sit-ups a day until the last round is completed on my birthday, on 26 May 2021, to celebrate the end of my 56th year.
I train at home outside in the courtyard preferably in the morning. Also, I video most of my workouts to track my progress. And, I've just starting using Google worksheets to track my total rep count per day to keep an accurate record.
I haven't missed a day yet. And to date, I've accumulated a total of 12,429 reps. The total is made up of 3,362 sit-ups, 4,645 squats and 4,122 push-ups. On average, I'm completing 388 reps per day made up of, on average a day, 114 sit-ups, 145 squats and 128 push-ups.
Lately, I've been doing the 300 on their own or as a finisher. If I continue to workout at this rate for the next 333 days, I will be on course to complete a total of 141,768 reps on 26 May, 2021.
I complete the 300 mainly in one session made up of different workouts. Such as:
Pyramid 1 to 10 to 1 (reps increase by 1 in ascending order to 10 and then the reps decrease by one 1 rep in descending order. Total reps is equal to 100.
5 rounds of 20 reps
4 rounds of 25 reps
Ladder 5-10-15-20
Reverse Ladder 20-15-10-5
And sometimes I'll include interval running in the workout such as 100m-200m-400m-600-400-200-100m to build my heart and lung fitness.
If I'm doing the 300 workout on their own, I can complete the workout, on average, between 10:30 and 12:00 mins. If I include the interval runs, I can complete the workout, on average, between 21:00 and 35:00 mins.
