bell hooks has been honored as a leading public intellectual by The Atlantic Monthly, as well as one of Utne Reader's "100 Visionaries Who Could Change Your Life," hooks is a captivating speaker and canonical scholar who has authored over 40 books. She is also distinguished professor in residence in Appalachian studies at Berea College, Berea, Kentucky.

George Yancy is a professor of philosophy at Emory University, where his scholarship focuses on critical whiteness studies and philosophy of the black experience; he writes regularly for the New York Times.

Harry Brod is a professor of sociology at the University of Northern Iowa. He was St. Norbert College’s first ever distinguished visiting scholar, where he taught courses on men and masculinity.
