Last night, April 17, 2025 (Jueves Santo), I traveled to Santa Coloma de Gramenet, a culturally rich city in the Barcelona province, Catalonia, Spain, to experience and document one of its most heartfelt Holy Week processions.
Starting at 10:00 PM from the Església Major de Santa Coloma, the procession was organized by the Cofradía de la Veracruz, a historic brotherhood devoted to preserving Santa Coloma’s Semana Santa traditions. The procession featured the solemn images of Jesus Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary, carried through the streets in a deeply moving display of faith, tradition, and community.
Santa Coloma de Gramenet, located just northeast of Barcelona city, is known for its rich religious heritage, local festivals, and a welcoming, multicultural spirit.
