The Admiral: Isoroku Yamamoto (山本五十六) is a 2011 Japanese war drama film about Isoroku Yamamoto. The life of Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto from the early 1930's to his death at the hands of the US military in 1943.
Storyline:
Yamamoto's military career is shown through his family life, his attempts to prevent the impending conflict with the United States amid World War II and his run-ins with Japanese war hawks. Despite his opposition to war with the United States, the Japanese military establishment entangles Yamamoto in the war and orders him to prepare the attack on Pearl Harbor. The film also follows the perspective of a Japanese A6M Zero aerial battalion, from the attack on Pearl Harbor to the Battle of Midway and finally to the American ambush of Yamamoto's Mitsubishi G4M.
