I got this mechanic special BMW 328D with N47T diesel engine. It has 131k miles. All signs pointed to high pressure fuel pump failure and dealership quoted 15K for fuel system repairs. Here is a Brief diagnosis procedure with ISTA and how to for the cp4 high pressure pump removal or inspection. Found timing chains failed which were supposed to not be an issue for USA models. Its hard to say what came first the chain failure or pump failure. I suspected the pump maybe locked up causing chain to break. Will make another video when I know more.
Fault codes
273C00 camshaft sensor no signal
248500 rail pressure too low
248600 rail pressure too low high load
249300 rail pressure too low engine start
