A distressing incident of food poisoning occurred in Telangana on January 29, 2026, when approximately 22 to 45 students at a Mandal Parishad primary school in Venkatapur village (Narayankhed mandal), Sangareddy district, fell ill after their mid-day meal.
The students reported a foul smell from the sambar and rice, but were allegedly forced to eat it. Investigations suggest that reheated leftover food from a private function held the previous day was served to the children to cut costs.
