Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a real quick look together at this Hopkins Plug-In Simple vehicle wiring harness with four-pole flat trailer connector. Now this wiring harness is specifically designed to fit your 1999 to 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee without the factory tow package. And on custom fit parts such as this wiring harness, I do recommend taking advantage of our vehicle fit guide here at etrailer.com. Just input the year, make, and model of your vehicle and our fit guide will confirm if this will work for you or if we have something comparable that will work for you. Now this harness is going to give you that four-pole flat trailer connector at the back of your Jeep to power your trailer signal lights.

This is also going to be compatible with five-pole, six-pole and seven-pole adapters. And of course those adapters are sold separately. Included is going to be this detachable dust cap for the four-pole flat connector that's going to cover up those connection points when the plug is not being used. Now this custom fit T-connector is going to plug into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located in your rear cargo area on the driver's side. You will have to remove some interior paneling to access that harness.

And this tail, this wiring harness has this taillight converter that's built into it. And because most trailers run on a two-wire system where the brake and the turn signals are carried on one wire, the separate brake and turn signals from your Jeep's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This converter box is going to combine the brake and the turn signal functions of your Jeep so that they can run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's taillights. Now I do wanna point out that this is not going to affect how your taillights on your Jeep operate. Now once installation is complete, the four-way connector can be stowed in your rear cargo area, or you can check out the bracket options that we have here at etrailer.com where you could mount this outside of your Jeep near the opening of your trailer hitch receiver.

Now it is recommended that you use a small amount of dielectric grease on all of your electrical connections, the plugs of your Jeep, the plugs on your Jeep rather, and the four-pole flat connector itself to help prevent corrosion. This does include a little packet of that to get you started, but if you're interested in picking up some more to have on hand, the good news is we do carry that. On your screen, I am including our item number for that dielectric grease. You can just take that item number, pop it in the search field of our website, that will take you to that grease, and you can add that to your order if you so desire. I did fail to mention that you do get a few cable ties here to secure any slack in your wiring that you might have.
