Why is my Defender HISSING LOUDLY from the engine when accelerating? DIY FIX Power Loss/Engine Light

Описание: If your Land Rover Defender (or any turbo car) is making a loud hissing sound under acceleration or hisses more when going up hills, you’ve probably got a split pipe or a vacuum leak. The most common cause of a hissing steam-like sound from your engine is due to a split intercooler pipe / broken turbo hose. If this pipe which leads from the intercooler has a split the air can escape under pressure causing the hissing sound. This will also result in a major loss of power, the car possibly going into limp mode, and almost definitely the engine light (EML) coming on in the dash.

But it’s actually a fairly easy repair on a Defender, as I found out myself. This video diagnoses the hissing sound and shows you how to change the intercooler pipe to delete the engine light in your dash and fix the problem yourself without needing to spend hundreds of pounds/dollars at your local garage.
