Choosing Kin (Species): Players roll a D12 or choose from options like Human, Halfling, Dwarf, Elf, Mallard, and Wolfkin (3:19). The group's kin selections include an Elf (3:53), a Halfling (5:25), another Halfling (5:41), a Mallard (6:02), a Human (6:27), and a Wolfkin (13:12).
Kin Abilities: Each kin has a unique ability that costs Willpower Points to activate (8:07). Examples include:
Dwarf (Unforgiving): Gain a boon when attacking someone who has harmed them (8:10).
Human (Adaptive): Can choose to make a skill roll using another skill (8:39).
Halfling (Hard to Catch): Gains a boon when making an evade roll while dodging an attack (9:38).
Elf (Inner Peace): Heals additional HP and Willpower during a stretch rest (10:19).

Heroic Abilities: Professions come with starting heroic abilities (17:05). Some discussed include:
Thief (Backstabbing): A sneak attack that cannot be dodged or parried, giving a boon to the roll and increased damage dice (28:25).
Scholar (Intuition): Allows asking the GM a question for a helpful answer when faced with a difficult decision (23:06).
Artisan (Master Blacksmith/Carpenter/Tanner): Allows sharpening weapons, crafting weapons/armor, or breaking objects/crafting wood items/creating leather armor, respectively (29:57).
Fighter (Veteran): Allows retaining initiative card from the previous round in combat (33:55).
Hunter (Companion): Allows turning an animal into a companion that can scout or attack (35:04).
Bard (Musician): Instills courage in allies or fear in foes, giving boons or banes to rolls (36:47).
