Today we’re reacting to Firefly (2002) S1E7: “Jaynestown” for the very first time! This wild mix of sci-fi and western keeps us guessing, and we’re excited to see where Captain Mal and the Serenity crew end up next.

This episode takes a more emotional turn, diving into backstories, unexpected danger, and some truly tense moments (and yes, it gets weird in the best Firefly way). Think flashbacks, farm towns, and… witch trials?

Join us as we follow Simon and River through a strange and isolated community while the rest of the crew faces their own crisis. There's heart, tension, and a major focus on the bond between siblings, plus a few unexpected laughs along the way.

Plot: While delivering medical supplies, things go sideways when Simon and River are kidnapped by a remote village in need of a doctor. As they try to survive, we learn more about their past and the deep connection between them. Meanwhile, Serenity’s crew has problems of their own when Shepherd Book is seriously wounded and needs help that only an Alliance facility can provide.

This episode shifts gears from high society to heartfelt stakes… and we’re all in.
