Some FAQs
Q. How did I know the bear was coming through the bushes?
A. I followed the trail through the bushes and saw him on the other side. I backed away, hoping he wouldn't see me. He saw me and walked towards me.

Q. Why were you silent?
A. I shouted, "Hey, Bear!" repeatedly before he came through the bushes. Once he was close to me, I followed grizzly bear protocol, which is to look small, be silent, stay still, and don't look directly at them.

Q. Did you have bear spray?
A. Yes. A very large can of bear spray ready to go.

Q. Why didn't you use it?
A. I didn't feel threatened at that point. He wasn't showing any aggressive behaviour.

Q. Were you scared?
A. Yes, very. At first, when he saw me and walked towards me, I was fumbling for the bear spray. After he was in my presence for a few minutes, I relaxed enough to film him. He got camera shy and walked off.

Q. Why were you filming?
A. I vlog my hikes. I have documented over 7000 miles of the Appalachian Trail, Pacific Crest Trail, and Continental Divide Trail for YouTube. This was one of the most epic nature experiences I've had.
