important : Teach your dog something new in a familiar place. If not familiar, let your dog familiarise with it a few days before you try something new.

The key is to motivate your pooch to do something by taking the fear quotient out of the situation. So in Dobby’s case it’s showing her that she can do it without falling or hurting herself with our help.
And if that motivations comes in form of food for your dog then carry treats along and reward for every little progress.

Dobby loves her independence and sometimes she doesn’t like using the steps. So this is a good alternative and we think that’s what motivates her.

How we started. (As the video shows)
1. This is our usually walking path. So Dobby sees us / tiramisu use this & either Dobby uses the stairs next it/ or climb up or down the lawn inclination next to it or we carry her up or down.
So, We started with showing Dobby the ramp. The prompt for us & Dobby is to point at the ramp & saying “come”
2. Next we slowly introduced walking down ramp while gently helping her.
(We know there could be some mishaps or mistakes so we are slow , cautious and most importantly calm)
3. We always either cheer Dobby on or clap after the accomplishment or give her loads of “good girl” and pets. Dobby loves these little positive reinforcement actions.
4. We practice this every day or every other day depending on Dobby. We do no force or push her.
Everyday we make more progress and as you see in the end of the video, this is where we are at after a month of practise. As always, we are very proud❤️
