Possessive adjectives in Russian can be used instead of the genitive case of nouns when expressing possession; these adjectives are widely used in daily Russian speech with names, family members and animals (although to form possessive adjectives from animals requires other endings):
Лиса - ЛисИЙ хвост / fox's tail
Cобака - CобачИЙ хвост / dog's tail
Заяц - ЗаячИЙ хвост / bunny's tail
